What is Self-Storage?


The storage industry started to help people address the “4Ds of life”: death, divorce, downsizing, and dislocation. Traditional storage is known as self-storage and stands for “self-service storage”.  A self-storage facility offers either rooms, lockers or containers for tenants to store their stuff at a set rate. People pack up their belongings, sometimes rent a big truck, drive to the storage facility and unload their items into this temporary space. The same tenants would then drive back to the storage unit to pick up some of their items or all of their items when they're finished storing them.

2. We provide boxes.


If you don’t have your own boxes, we’ll bring ours. Our eco-friendly, durable bins keep your things safe. Best of all, they’re free to use. Our boxes come in three sizes: regular, oversized and wardrobe.


Second Closet’s box dimensions are:
Regular Box: 21” long x 14” wide x 11.5” high,
Oversized Box: 27.5” long x 18” wide x 13” high,
Wardrobe Box: 46” tall x 24” wide x 20” deep


3. Our rates never increase.


Traditional self-storage companies have gotten a bad rap for storing their tenant's stuff and then increasing the rates. This means the tenant either has to go through the hassle of relocating their things or pay the inflated rate. We never increase our rates on our customers. We guarantee the price you agree to will remain consistent.

4. We let you pay per item.


Most storage facilities offer you a range of spaces. You select a room and pay for the space that will fit your stuff. One problem with this model is that people end up paying for space they aren't using. We offer both a Space Plan and an Item Plan. The Item Plan allows you to pay per item. We also help our customer choose the most affordable option based on their storage needs so they end up paying the best possible rate.


5. We let you recall individual items.


We deliver your stuff straight to your doorstep. You can choose to have all your things returned to you, or you can have individual items returned to you. If you remove items from your item-plan, your storage rates will be adjusted to reflect this so you never pay for space you’re not using.


6. We let you book and pay online.

If you prefer speaking to another human, simply give us a call. You can ask any questions you may have and complete your booking over the phone.


7. We’re available 7 days a week.


We know you’re busy, that’s why we deliver seven days a week from 10 am to 10 pm. We’re available on all holidays except Christmas day. We’re also fast. You can expect a standard delivery to arrive within 15 hours after you request it. You can even request a rush delivery and get your stuff in 90 minutes for a reasonable surcharge.
